Songs Of Ek Gaon Ki Kahani

Actor and Playback singer, Talat Mahmood and actress Mala Sinha starred hit movie, ‘Ek Gaon Ki Kahani’ was released in the year 1957. The director of this movie was Dulal Guha who casted Talat Mahmood and Mala Sinha in lead roles whereas I.S. Johar, Bipin Gupta, Abhi Bhattacharya, Nirupa Roy, Lalita Pawar, Brahm Bhardwaj, Mohan Choti, Dhumal, Dulari, Moolchand and Baby Honey in important supporting roles. The movie was produced by Basu Chitra Mandir Production House. Famous music director, Salil Choudhury directed the classical and hit music and playback singers like Asha Bhosle, Manna Dey, Lata Mangeshkar and Talat Mahmood gave their melodious voice to the hit songs. Lyrics of the songs were written by Shailendra. The songs of the movie are listed below:

Another veteran young and attractive actress, Mala Sinha was casted in this movie by Dulal Guha. She played the role of Jaya who lives a poor lifestyle in a village called Chandangaon alongwith her father named Gokul (I.S. Johar) who is a widower. Gokul is the only person who earns and runs the lifestyle in the family. He works as a compounder but calls himself a Homeopathic doctor. Not only this he also gives medicines to the patients of all kinds. He does so because there is no qualified doctor in the village. Meanwhile Gokul notices that Jaya is now of marriageable age and therefore he arranges her marriage with a guy named Shiv who is the son of Dayashankar (Bipin Gupta). Dayashankar is an influencial man as he is the President of the Gram Panchayat.

Whereas Dayashankar is greedy and wants his son to quickly get married with Jaya so that he can get some dowry from Gokul. On the other hand, there is also another suitor for Jaya named Ratan (Abhi Bhattacharya). His mother (Lalita Pawar) would like to re-marry her son as his wife named Maya (Nirupa Roy) is unable to give birth to a child. Everything changes when a doctor (Talat Mahmood) arrives at the village and takes charge of the charitable dispensary. Now Dayashankar and Ratan’s mother are too much worried about the arrival of a new suitor of Jaya.
